Turchetti’s

AN OPTION

Turchetti’s Salumeria recently opened in Fountain Square, formerly the Marrow, with a twist. Each menu selection is made from scratch with ingredients from local vendors. The restaurant also processes its meat onsite.

I ordered the deviled egg with capers whipped n’duja (spreadable pork belly), and ‘the Rosino’ sandwich with fincchiona, calabrese, capocollo, prosciutto cotto, provolone, lettuce, tomato, giardiniera on a fresh baguette. The n’duja gave the egg a distinct richness to each bite. The sandwich with the layers of in-house cured meats was full of flavor. Remember to squeeze the baguette or you’ll be wearing your sandwich home. The perfect finish was the triple chocolate gelato.

Turchetti’s is currently open on Friday and Saturday. Walk by during the week to watch the Salumeria process.

WHERE I DINE

Steve Wagner, Danville

Where do you like to dine?

Among the many places I love to go, my favorite is Harry and Izzy’s downtown.

What do you like there?

I love about everything on the menu, but my favorite is the Club Sandwich, believe it or not.  It is full of perfectly portioned meat, delicious buttered and toasted bread and crispy bacon.  It is a clear 10 out of 10 for a sandwich.

What do you like about this place?

They are very attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. They know us by name and have our favorite table tagged for us. When we go, which is frequently, they treat us like family.
