AN OPTION

When you walk into Nonna’s by So Italian, you’ll be transported to an Italian winery along the countryside. Nonna’s a full-service restaurant and bar using the same traditional family recipes as its sister location in Brownsburg, but with its own unique flair.

I went with co-owner Mauricio Trincado’s suggestion to order the Beef Lasagna with homemade marinara and Alfredo sauce poured on top and the house salad. The combination of red and white sauces was perfecto. You must dip the house-made bread to savor the last drops of sauce. Save room to finish with their Tiramisu. Nonna’s offers vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Check out Facebook for vegetarian and eggplant lasagna specials.

The coffee café, with hhouse-made pastries and coffee, is open on Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon.

WHERE I DINE

Linda Smith, Brownsburg

Where do you like to dine?

I love to dine at the Stables Steakhouse in Terre Haute.

What do you like there?

I’ve liked everything I’ve ever eaten there, but my very favorite is their crème brûlée (the best I’ve ever had). This is our special occasion destination.

What do you like about this place?

This fine-dining restaurant really was the stables for the Champagne Velvet Beer Company many years ago. The horses pulled cargo floats full of beer by walking along the canal next to the brewery and making deliveries to customers.
