Danville gets ready for first-ever Monster Mash Block Party

Danville Parks and Recreation will host its first Monster Mash Block Party on Saturday. The free Halloween event will include candy, a costume contest, a jack-o-lantern contest, dancing, face painting and games located outside Bosstick gym.
The party replaces the annual Hargrave Hall Haunted House where volunteers transformed the town office building into a spooky site.
“The haunted house became just too much work for volunteers for nine years. It took a toll on our staff,  so we are going to try something else,” Nate Phipps, Danville recreation manager, said.
The Monster Mash Block Party will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 26. The Danville Metropolitan Police Department and Danville Fire Department will be on hand with s’mores and games. Guests will also have a chance to meet the Indiana Lyons.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help out. If interested, contact nphipps@danvilleindiana.org or call 317-745-4180 x5205.
