Nine young women competed for the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Avon Saturday, July 29 at Harmony Baptist Church in Avon. More than $10,000.00 in college scholarship money was awarded to the Participants.
Emily Keith earned the title of Distinguished Young Woman of Avon 2017-2018. Emily was sponsored by Avon Tri Kappa and will represent Avon at the Distinguished Young Women of Indiana Program to be held Feb. 2018 in Kokomo, IN. Also sponsored by Avon Tri Kappa, was the 1st Runner-Up, Claire Rightly. The 2nd Runner-Up, Jadah Coursey, was sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Avon. The Virginia & John Sinclair Family Foundation provided a Book Scholarship for each Participant.
Girls entering their senior year in the fall of 2018 who reside in Hendricks County, Washington Township, Avon can apply to participate in the 2018-2019 Distinguished Young Women of Avon Program by registering at distinguishedyw.org/apply-now. An informational call-out meeting will be held at Avon High School in April 2018.
