Public invited to library tour hosted by IPL CEO

Individuals of all ages are invited to meet Indianapolis Public Library CEO Jackie Nytes during her 2019 “Love Your Library Tour” continuing through early March at all Southside IndyPL locations.

Attendees can learn about trends and activities throughout the library system, including new capital projects, and share thoughts about how the library can better serve patrons’ needs in an informal and conversational setting.

One of the projects scheduled on the Southside is construction of a new branch in Perry Township, intended to fill a large geographical gap in library services for that area. The architect for the $9.2 million, 25,000-square-foot branch is Schmidt Associates of Indianapolis. The branch is scheduled to open by mid-2021. IndyPL will host several community engagement meetings to solicit public suggestions for the new branch.

This year’s CEO sessions also will provide an introduction to the library’s new website, recently launched at indypl.org. The redesigned, mobile-friendly site features an easy-to-use catalog and improved access to the library’s many online features. Based on feedback from more than 2,000 library website users, IndyPL created a site that simplifies searches for books and materials, provides lists of new and recently reviewed materials and connects users with librarians for reference help.

The CEO’s “Love Your Library Tour” will visit libraries on the following dates and times.

Monday, Feb. 11 at 6 p.m. – Beech Grove Branch, 1102 Main St.

Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. – Southport Branch, 2630 E. Stop 11 Road.
