Plainfield school district plans for July graduation ceremony

Plainfield Community School Corporation leaders plan to go ahead with an outdoor graduation ceremony in July if plans to reopen the state go as planned.
“If Indiana’s ‘Back On Track’ plan stays on track, we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2020 with an outdoor Commencement to be held the weekend of July 17-19,” said Sabrina Kapp, director of communications for PCSC in a message posted to the district’s website.
The preliminary details include limited tickets per graduate for family members and bleachers on both sides of the football field with clearly marked seating at an appropriate distance. The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, July 17 at 8 p.m. with rain dates on Saturday and Sunday.
If there is a rainout, graduation will be held virtually on Sunday, July 19 at 1 p.m.
PCSC Commencement may also be done virtually if there are changes in the state’s plan to reopen after coronavirus.
“More information will be shared in the coming weeks as the details are worked out. But for now, we are excited to share this information so that our seniors, and their families, might begin planning for what we hope will be a memorable celebration.”
