New town manager for Brownsburg

It is the first week on the job for new Brownsburg Town Manager Jeff Eder.

Eder was recently appointed by the town council to serve as Brownsburg’s chief executive officer and will be responsible for directing day-to-day operations and economic development.

Eder comes to the job with 18 years of experience in municipal management. Most recently, he served as city administrator of East Peoria, Ill.

He also spent four years as the assistant city manager and economic development director for the city of Rock Island and 12 years with the village of Franklin Park.

Eder has a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental design, urban planning and development from Ball State University.

While he spent decades in Illinois, Eder is orginally from Peru.

“I’m happy to be back with this opportunity. I’m looking forward to staying long-term in Brownsburg and be part of shaping a growing community,” Eder said. “There’s a lot of projects that are under discussion and that makes my job interesting and fun.”

Eder is enthusiastic about applying some of his experience to the new job.

“I”ll bring new ideas.  I’ve been in serving different positions in several different communities and I can bring those perspectives to staff here,” he added

He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University Kokomo. He is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute.

Eder and his wife, Johanna, have three sons.

This is the first town manager for Brownsburg since Grant Kleinhenz left in August 2018. Brownsburg Assistant Town Manager Brian Hartsell has served as interim.
