When Dr. John Norris decided that he wanted to practice medicine, he set his sights on gynecology. “It’s the only branch of medicine where the majority of the outcomes are happy,” he said.
Norris studied at the IU School of Medicine and spent his residency with Ascension St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis. An obstetrician-gynecologist for the past 36 years, Norris’ Franklin office is affiliated with Johnson Memorial Hospital. He specializes in high-risk obstetrics, minimally invasive and vaginal surgeries, laparoscopic procedures and routine GYN care.
During the span of his career, Norris estimates that he has delivered between 6,000 and 7,000 babies. The success of his practice comes from the best advice he’s received. “Treat all patients as if they are family members,” he said.
A Center Grove resident for the past 22 years, Norris has seven children and 13 grandchildren (with one on the way).
What do you consider your greatest virtue? My work ethic

What do you like most about living in Center Grove? The small community atmosphere yet close to Indianapolis and all the things it offers.
What makes you happiest? My family and my career
What is your favorite vacation spot? The Caribbean
What do you do with idle time? I recently built a new home and am constantly working on improving the exterior, i.e. yard work.
What is it that makes you angry? Life is too short to be angry.
What do you do to escape from reality? Exercise and spend a lot of time on my tractor
What or who is the greatest love of your life? My children and grandchildren
What are your fears, phobias? Snakes
What has been the happiest time of your life? The birth of my children
Which talent would you most like to possess? I would like to be able to sing.
What do you most value in your friends? honestly and loyalty.
What is your greatest regret? I haven’t taken enough time to stop and smell the roses.
What tenet do you live by? I live by hard work and dedication.
