The winter storm expected to hit Hendricks County tomorrow has led the organizers of Dogtona! to reschedule the event for Sunday, Feb. 3, 12:30-4:30 p.m., at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds Expo Hall, 1900 E. Main St, Danville.
The change comes after the National Weather Service issued a winter storm advisory for most of Central Indiana.
“We were so looking forward to entertaining the dogs tomorrow, but the weather just isn’t cooperating,” said Cameron Johnson, a longtime volunteer at the Hendricks County Humane Society who has spearheaded the event since its inception 17 years ago.
“The consensus from our exhibitors, vendors and volunteers was to re-schedule, if possible. Fortunately, Steve Patterson, with the Fairgrounds, was able to find us an option on the busy Expo Hall’s schedule,” Johnson added.
Since Feb. 3 is Super Bowl Sunday, Johnson hopes the new time will accommodate both football fans and churchgoers. She has even renamed this year’s event to “Dogtona!, Super Bone Sunday.”
Carol Battistini, who serves on the board of directors, said that even though this year’s event will run an hour less, the time is the only thing that has changed. Guests can still expect all the vendors, games and competitions that have made this such a popular family event.
The price of admission is $5 per dog, humans are free. For more information call the Hendricks County Humane Society at (317) 745-3338.
