Divers with the Danville Fire Department recovered a loaded firearm from a neighborhood pond Monday evening that stemmed from a police pursuit and car crash.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed near County Road 625 East and 150 South.
The driver and three others got out of the car and ran off, according to police.
With the help of the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Avon Indiana Police Department K9 Units, all four teenage suspects were taken into custody.
After the crash, officers say witnesses on Springwater Court had reported seeing one of the suspects throw a dark object in the pond. The Danville Fire Department dive team recovered that loaded firearm. A firearm was also located in the vehicle.
“We appreciate the strong partnership we have with the Danville Fire Department and appreciate their assistance, said Lien.
All four suspects are juveniles. Two have been charged with fleeing police and unlawful possession of a firearm and are being held at the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center. The other two have been released to their parents. Officers are meeting with prosecutors about their possible charges.
