Brownsburg senior community to host car wash for a good cause
By Lindsay Doty
They’ve been cooped up inside for months amid the pandemic, but now some seniors will get a chance to get outside for a good cause.
Residents at Northfield Senior Living in Brownsburg and the Southfield location in Plainfield are teaming up to hold a community car wash on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
All proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
The car wash will be held at Northfield Senior Living located at 250 E Northfield Dr. in Brownsburg.
Residents are prepping for the big day by creating handmade posters to direct drivers.
During the car wash, all volunteers will be wearing masks and be socially distant.
“We just wanted to find a way for residents to be engaged and active and give back to the community,” explains Alban Seal, marketing assistant at Northfield Senior Living. He says their living communities have always had a focus on socialization and engaging residents.
“It is independent living and a lot of residents choose to downsize where they are to live here for the socialization. We noticed since COVID-19 started, it’s been tough to attain that because of the isolation. So we were looking for a way to regain that, safely.”
The car wash is free but visitors are encouraged to make donations on https://venmo.com to reduce touchpoints. You can donate at on Venmo using @northfield-senior.
