AN OPTION
I stopped by Crumb, a Plainfield gift shop filled with pastries and confections, owned by longtime resident Julie Biddle.
Her shop highlights each season with gifts, trinkets, food mixes of breads, dips and cakes. The display cases full of sweets caught my eye: cakes, cupcakes and truffles. Gluten free gifts and treats are among the delectables. Avon baker Marsha Quarles, owner Marsha’s Specialty Desserts & Tierney’s Catering, supplies some of the treats.
I devoured one of the sweet shop turtles as I left. I later savored the huge chocolate cupcake with ganache icing, an adult version of a childhood favorite from the grocery aisle.
I plan to head back soon to purchase Wheeler Mission candles. Proceeds go back to Wheeler’s Center for Women & Children.

WHERE I DINE
Timothy Everhart, Avon
Where do you like to dine?
Nonna’s by So Italian.
What do you like there?
I like the calzones. I was deployed to Spain and fell in love with a calzone over there. Nonna’s is the closest I have come to that.
What do you like about this place?
The owners are awesome, and the food is fabulous. Nonna’s will be catering our daughter’s wedding reception.
