Southside neighbors create chalk art project for seniors at Five Star Residences of Banta Pointe

Southside families and neighbors visited Five Star Residences of Banta Pointe, 6510 U.S. 31 S. on April 5 to complete a project called “Project Senior Sunshine” and share some happiness with the residents by creating happy chalk art. Project Senior Sunshine was inspired by Carla Higgins, who wanted to do something to make the residents smile.

“Our battle with this virus is different,” said Peggy Bryson, director of sales and marketing at Five Star Residences of Banta Pointe. “They are scared and lonely. This was such a fun afternoon as they sat in their driveways of the independent living apartments and watched and smiled. They were so appreciative. One lady said it’s the happiest thing she had seen all week.” Higgins is also collecting cards to share with residents of all Southside senior living communities and nursing homes to let them know others are thinking of them during these times.
