Scarves.net, a One Click Ventures brand, has launched a charity drive that encourages customers to help donate head scarves to patients at The Cheer Guild of Riley Hospital for Children. The charity drive, which gives customers the opportunity to partner with Scarves.net by donating the Mya scarf at checkout, will continue until Sept. 30. It is a part of Scarves.net’s “Knots for Hope” program, an initiative developed by Online Marketing Specialist Bethany Smith to inspire inner strength and beauty among cancer patients.
“Knots for Hope is, at its heart, a motivational resource for those affected by cancer,” Smith said. “We want to help women and girls who have suffered hair loss feel confident and beautiful — because they are, with or without hair. The resource includes everything from inspirational stories of women who’ve battled cancer to how-to-tie-a-scarf video tutorials. Now, we’re happy to have found another way to give back to this community through the charity drive.”
Smith added that she was inspired to reach out to Riley Hospital for this project because a fellow team member, Rhea Roller, attributes her success in battling leukemia to the care she received there.
“From day one at Riley, the nurses and doctors treated me like any other kid — but not like just another patient. They cared about me as a person having to deal with my cancer. They invested time in my life, but without solely focusing on my disease,” Roller said. “They truly made me feel loved and well cared for during one of the hardest parts of my life. For that, I will always be grateful.”
Smith said, throughout the next three months, Scarves.net hopes to donate at least 150 scarves — a total retail value of more than $2,500 — to the children at Riley Hospital.
