Detectives with the Crown Point Police Department believe some remains discovered in a pond in Northwest Indiana belong to missing mom Najah Ferrell.
The discovery was made on Monday after a fisherman found what appeared to be a human foot.
Detectives with the Avon Police Department were notified by Crown Point that the remains have been pre-identified as Ferrell.
Avon police posted on Tuesday to social media: “We have investigators en route at this time to further this investigation.”
Ferrell has been missing several weeks. The 30-year-old Avon resident was last seen around 3 a.m. March 15 at her home near Dan Jones Road and County Road 100 South. Her vehicle was located at Michigan Road and 86th Street, about two and a half miles from the Panera Bread where she was expected to complete work training that day.
Police have since recovered some of her personal items from the area of I-65 and Lafayette Road.
Avon Police Deputy Chief of Investigations Brian Nugent says they do consider the case to be suspicious but have no suspects or persons of interest at this time.
Ferrell has three foster children and two biological children.
