After 22 years of service to the Town of Avon as its manager, Tom Klein was asked by town council to resign.

The action, by council, was taken at tonight’s (June 25) meeting.

“Council asked me to resign,” Klein, who did not attend the meeting, texted the ICON. “So, I signed the agreement and they approved it tonight. It has been a good run and I’ve enjoyed working to make Avon a great place to live work and play.”

After the meeting, Town Council President Greg Zusan was asked to comment on the resignation but declined.

It was also learned that the town’s planning director, Jodi Dickey, was terminated Thursday morning.

On the Town of Avon’s website – https://avongov.org – it has listed Ryan Cannon as town manager. Cannon formally served as the town’s director of public works.

“Thanks for our former and current council members for serving Avon.” Klein continued. “Their dedication as public officials is admirable and thanks to the civil servants that make our communities function every day. They are heroes in my mind. Thanks, Avon for a fun 22 years. It is time to move on to another community to serve.”

This is a developing story.
