The Brownsburg Bulldogs girls basketball team (17-10) captured the Class 4A semi state Saturday (Feb. 20) at Jeffersonville, defeating Franklin Community High School, 49-27, to earn a trip to the state finals to play Crown Point High School (24-1) Saturday, Feb. 27, 8 p.m., at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. “We were lights out on defense, our kids prepared really hard all week,” Brownsburg head coach Debbie Guckenberger said after the win. “I think our kids bought in and we really worked hard.” Guckenberger attributed the team’s success to their intelligence and work ethic.Brownsburg head coach Debbie Guckenberger said after the win. “I think our kids bought in and we really worked hard.” Guckenberger attributed the team’s success to their intelligence and work ethic.
“They were coachable and cerebral and that’s what makes them successful,” Guckenberger said. “They’re not the best athletes, but they play hard and they’ve got basketball IQ.”
She continued: “The leadership of Ally Becki, everything she did for us, she makes us so much better whether its passing, rebounding scoring. I mean, she’s one of the top players in the state and I think she proved that tonight.”
