Judy, candidate for Hendricks County Sheriff arrested for DUI

Terry Judy, candidate for Hendricks County Sheriff, was arrested by the Danville Metropolitan Police Department at 3 a.m. April 10 on preliminary charges of driving under the influence and driving under the influence (endangerment). 

Det. Nate Lien, DMPD spokesman, confirmed the arrest but provided no other information.

Lien said that any further information regarding Judy’s arrest will come from the Hendricks County prosecutor’s office. 

Judy, 55, is a 33-year veteran of the sheriff’s department but retired December 2021 and is not currently employed with the department. 

Judy issued the following statement: 

“Please accept my apology for using poor judgment this past weekend. I have spent my entire professional career in law enforcement, and I make no excuses for my actions. I will continue to consult with families, friends and supporters regarding my candidacy for Hendricks County Sheriff and make a decision at the appropriate time.”
