Danville Police hosting National Night Out

By Lindsay Doty
The Danville Metropolitan Police Department will host its National Night Out Against Crime 2019 on Aug. 6 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville.
The annual event is designed to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
“We look forward to this every year. It is a way for us to interact with the community in a positive way,” DMPD Public Information Officer Nate Lien said. “We aren’t out working or responding, we are interacting with the community.  It’s fun and relaxed. Our families are out there too.”
DMPD will host the night of family fun that includes giant bounce houses, police and fire vehicles, an interactive fire department smokehouse, a zip line, food, drinks and K-9 demonstrations.
“Zeke our K-9 officer is going to be out there with our department doing demonstrations,” Lien said. “He will do an apprehension and a drug demo. People can come out and meet Zeke and his officer.”

The department hopes the event will provide a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

The event is free.
