Avon police investigating apparent murder-suicide

The Avon Police Department is piecing together an apparent murder-suicide that took place in the 1000 block of Preakness Drive in the Lexington Woods neighborhood, Sunday (July 5) morning.
The subdivision is on CR 100 S., east of Dan Jones Rd.
Initial reports reveal this was a domestic issue, possibly a murder-suicide incident. Crime investigators from APD and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were working the scene.
Details are not available at this time as police remained on scene for several hours into Sunday evening. Assistant Chief Brian Nugent said the incident appears to be isolated and there was no more threat to the community.
Officers responded to a welfare check at 11 a.m. According to police who have not released the names of the deceased, a missed appointment was the reason for the check. Officers discovered two bodies, likely a domestic abuse situation.
