Artistic Designs Gallery opens weeks after fire

By Rick Myers

Artistic_DesignsArtistic Designs Gallery, 152 E. Northfield Dr.,  Brownsburg, finally opened its doors today after being closed for nearly seven weeks after an early morning fire March 20.

“This is a whole new shop,” owner Laura Tesdahl said shortly after after opening. “Although we have the knowledge of how to do it it is like starting over again.”  Tesdahl and her husband, Lee purchased ADG, which has been in business in Brownsburg for 20 years, from Joe and Debbie Ashby in March of 2010.

While many other retailers at the Brownsburg Village Shopping Center were able to resume business shortly after the March fire, ADG had to deal with the removal of soot that had collected – not good for archival framers because soot is acidic and it attacks everything that is framed.

Of major disappointment to Tesdahl was having to cancel ADG’s 5th Annual Miniature Fine Arts Show as well as not being able to participate as a site for the Hendricks County Arts Council’s ArtsGo! 2011; two events she said bring people to the shop. She said the miniature fine arts show is tentatively rescheduled for October. “We don’t want to loose our connection with our customers ….” Tesdahl said.
