The Hendricks County Antique Tractor and Machinery Association is gearing up for their eighth annual antique tractor drive.
Brad Beeson, former President of the Association, and his wife Lou Ann have attended the tractor drive each year. Brad enters the antique tractors his father used to farm with. Brad and Lou Ann stress the importance of educating Hendricks County on antique farming equipment.
“The purpose of the association is to teach and promote an appreciation of the agricultural heritage of Hendricks County and the men and women that were part of this history,” quotes Brad from the association’s purpose statement. “It is the goal of the association to encourage the collecting, restoration and display of all makes and models of antique agricultural equipment that was used in this area.”
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, June 10th. The tractor drive kicks off with a club breakfast at 7 a.m. Participants will line up at 9 a.m. to leave the fairgrounds. The event concludes with a pitch-in dinner at 6 p.m.
Tractor drive participants will line up at the club’s barn in the northwest corner of the Hendricks County Fairgrounds. The tractors will follow back roads from the fairgrounds to North Salem, then to Amo and back to the fairgrounds.
Annual family membership to the club is available for $15. Participation in the tractor drive only is $5 per entry. Each tractor entered must be able to go at least 12 mph and the driver must provide a valid driver’s license.
