Town of Plainfield creates Small Business Crisis Response Grant Program recovery during COVID-19
Edited Press Release
The Town of Plainfield offers Small Business Crisis Response Grant Program to help small businesses recover from the economic downfall of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant program will allow small businesses, employing 50 or less employees, to apply for a grant of up to $2,500.
“Small businesses are an important part of the fabric of our community and they are being significantly impacted by the economic shut down that is a necessary response to the pandemic,” said Town Council President, Robin Brandgard. “We are excited to be able to offer this program to help our small businesses through these tough times.”
The Town of Plainfield established a budget of $75,000 for the Plainfield Small Business Crisis Response Grant Program, which is a part of a bigger $340,000 COVID-19 Small Business Economic Response Plan. Main Street Plainfield is providing additional funding for the Small Business Crisis Response Grant Program. Small businesses looking to apply for the grant must meet the following requirements:
- Must be in good standing with regard to state and local taxes, licenses and code compliance.
- Must be in good standing with the Indiana Secretary of State.
- Must have been established and operational in the Town of Plainfield for at least the previous 6 months.
- Must have a physical location in Plainfield.
The eligible uses of funds will be for operational expenses including payroll, utilities, rent, debt payments or insurance, and/or expenses associated with operating a business in the “new normal,” such as purchase of personal protection equipment (PPE), protective screens, signage, changes to customer payment processes, or the like.
“Our usual dining locations and favorite shopping sites are all being significantly impacted by the economic shut down that is a necessary response to the pandemic. To minimize the impacts of this crisis and ensure a quick economic recovery, it is critically important that we support these small businesses,” said Town Manager, Andrew Klinger.
