Indiana Guitar Show is ‘big party’ for local musicians

Staff report
Whether you’re a heavy metal thrasher or a country picker, this weekend’s Indiana Guitar Show will
have something for every guitar enthusiast.
“I’m throwing a party for all of the musicians in Central Indiana,” IGS owner and promoter Eddie Prather
said. “I mean it’s a big party.”
The two-day Indiana Guitar Show — which Prather said is the first in the U.S. this year — will be
Saturday and Sunday at the Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds and Conference Complex in Danville.
This is the fourth year that the show has been in Hendricks County. At press time, Prather said there will
be 80 dealers from all over the country.
“There are going to be guitars that are going to be worth $75,000-$80,000,” said Prather. He noted a
1955 Fender Stratocaster as well as a 1957 Stratocaster but added those who come can find guitars for
$100.
It’s not only guitars that may be bought, sold or traded, Prather said. Amplifiers, pedals, basses,
keyboards, mandolins, fiddles and banjos and accessories will fill the floor as well.
Last year’s show, which is traditionally held in April, was pushed back to September. It was the only
guitar show of its kind held in the U.S. in 2020. COVID “killed” dealers last year, Prather said, which
makes it all the more important to come to this year’s show.
“They’re hungry to buy,” he said. “It’s a seller’s market. If you’ve something to sell, you’re definitely
going to sell it.”
There will also be door prizes such as certificates from Arthur’s Music Store, Music Go Round as well as
autographed items from Paul McCartney and James Taylor.
